Why make the switch?
Updated: May 12
Old habits die hard, so while that disposable plastic toothbrush might be calling your name, we wanted to throw down some facts for you.
You brush your teeth twice a day, 365 days a year. So, assuming you’re keeping up with your basic dental hygiene, you’re giving your teeth a nice clean 730 times a year.
They (you know, they) say you should invest in the things you use the most. The common examples include mattresses, good shoes, car tyres and whatnot.
Well, we have no idea how, but toothbrushes seem to have escaped that list, despite you using them twice a day every damn day.
Given the amount of wear an average toothbrush goes through, it’s recommended that you replace your brush every 3 months. You’ll have used a single brush 182 times.
You know what that means? This:
In the United States alone, one billion plastic toothbrushes are thrown away every year
Plastic toothbrushes take over 400 years to decompose
The average plastic toothbrush fan will throw away 300 toothbrushes in their lifetime
All of that ends up in landfill – and there’s a really simple way you can stop contributing to the madness. Make the switch to bamboo, and the Earth will thank you.
